2015 New Year's REVOLUTION: No more broken fitness resolutions!

"What’s your New Year’s resolution?"

I just about cringe when I hear this question because the truth of the matter is, everybody makes resolutions but only about 8% of people actually stick to them. Which means somewhere along the way, the other 92% of us somehow fall off track… or in other words, we FAIL at the very first goal we set for ourselves in the new year! And let’s be honest – we all KNOW that resolutions are usually broken, so even as we’re making them we know full-well in the back of our minds that we won’t end up sticking with them. And I don't know about you, but another half-hearted failed attempt is NOT how I want to start off 2015!

A fitness plan shouldn’t be an empty promise. We all are getting older and I know that deep down, most of us really do want to live a healthier lifestyle but don’t know how to do it in a manageable way. I know several of us will even go as far as to sign up for pricey a new gym membership in January. You’ll go once in a while, even though you really have no idea what you’re doing. You’ll hope to see results, and be confused and frustrated when you don’t. I’ve totally been there!

How I became a Morning Person (It's not as hard as you think!)

Let me start of by saying I LOVE SLEEP. If I don't get 8 hours of sleep at night, I'm kind of a mess the next day. I think God knows this, because I was blessed with a daughter who sleeps through the night from 7:30 pm to 7:30 am ever since she was a few months old. But sleeping for a full 8 hours has its drawbacks. The most obvious being that I only have 16 hours of "awake time" to get sh*t done. As an entrepreneur, wife and mom of a toddler who also likes to workout -- this can also be described as "impossible."

When Sofia was younger and two naps a day, I was able to squeeze in my workout during her first nap, and my dinner prep during her second nap. Work for my online business was done after she went to bed, and unfortunately -- alone time with my hubby was put on the back burner. But now that she's on a single-nap schedule, it became even harder to cram everything in. I was trying to do my workouts in the middle of the day during an unpredictable nap time (so many workouts were getting missed) or I'd run out of time -- getting in my workout but not finishing dinner prep (take-out it is... again!). Plus, she is SO much more active now as a toddler that I found myself exhausted by the evenings. I was trying to do work at night , but I was simply not at my best at 9pm.

So I did something crazy -- well, crazy for ME at least. I committed to waking up an hour earlier in the mornings. (Notice I didn't say sleep for an hour less -- I still get my 8 hours, only I rearranged things a bit.) I was starting a new fitness program, 21 Day Fix (you can read about it here and here) so I used that as my excuse to try out a new schedule and wake up at 6:30 am everyday.

I'll be honest, Day 1 was a challenge, especially since the first workout was Cardio Fix (I despise cardio) so I really struggled through my workout -- but I did it! And guess what? I felt great after! Being able to workout, shower and get dressed before my daughter woke up was actually AMAZING! Day 2 was just as difficult. I didn't want to drag my butt out of bed and I was sore all over from my workout the day before. But I didn't let my excuses get in my way. I forced myself to get up and go workout.

By Day 3, something strange happened. I actually woke up before my alarm went off! It was actually (dare I say it?) easy to get out of bed and exercise. And the trend continued.... They say it takes 21 Days to build a new habit -- but in my case it more like 3. But I knew the key was sticking with it consistently whether I felt like it that day or not. Whether I got to bed later the night before or not. Whether I was sore or not. If I skipped a day, I knew I would be starting over from square one. So even on the weekends, I woke up early and did my workout first thing in the morning.

I found that this allowed me to use Sofia's nap time in the afternoon to focus on my business before I was too tired to think straight. I was able to come up with better ideas and work more efficiently, so I still had enough time to prepare a healthy dinner. So now, when my husband gets home from work -- I'm not totally ignoring him either. Yes, I am still tired by the evening because I'm a mom... of a TODDLER... and of course because I'm waking up an hour earlier, BUT it's ok because I'm not trying to do anything more than spend time with my love -- which I don't have to think too hard about.

Here are my top 5 tips for making sure your morning workouts happen: 

1 - Prepare everything you will need the night before (workout clothes, hair tie, equipment, DVD, fill a water bottle and put it in the fridge, etc.) so you don't have to go looking for stuff in your half-awake zombie state.

2 - What scares you most about your workouts? For me it's cardio. Any kind of cardio. So I don't check my workout schedule until I wake up. Because if I know it's cardio day, it will be that much harder to pull myself out of bed. Plus I'll probably spend more time in bed thinking about my dreaded cardio than actually sleeping.

3 - Go to bed at a decent time. If you know you need at least 8 hours of sleep to function -- get in bed when you're supposed to!

4 - Don't eat anything before. As a matter of fact, don't do anything before your workout -- just roll outta bed, put on your workout clothes, and GO! You'll be half way through your workout before you really start to wake up and realize what's going on :)

5 - And most importantly, don't forget to set your alarm(!!!) and keep it just out of reach so you have to move to turn it off.

What if...? (Do you have a Plan B?!)

It seems like nothing is guaranteed these days... especially a job! Friends with not only one but TWO master's level degrees are unemployed for years at a time. Many, if not most, of us are under-employed, over-worked and under-appreciated. Yet, we stick to the same struggle and grind it out day after day just to make ends meet. And as smart as we are, and as common sense as it sounds, most of us don't have a Plan B! Do you?!?

But What if? ...

Even if you've been climbing that corporate ladder year after year, do you still have that “what if” in the back of your mind? What IF you lost your job tomorrow? Recipe: Pecorino Crusted Chicken with Kale Quinoa Pilaf

Have you ever tried one of those fresh food box home delivery services like Plated or Blue Apron? I typically avoid them because I still find the recipes to include a bit more prep work than I would like as a busy mom (even though the food is already measured out -- which I LOVE!) and the available options don't always fit in nicely with my nutrition plan. But this week I had a meal delivered from Plated that I really enjoyed making and wanted to share with you all.


2 boneless chicken breasts
1 tsp. olive oil
2 egg whites
1 cup water
1 bunch kale
1/2 bunch scallions
1 lemon
1/4 cup Dijon mustard
1 Tbsp. honey
2/4 cup almond meal
1 Tbsp spice mixture:
  - garlic powder
  - onion powder
  - dried oregano
  - dried basil
1 Tbsp. grated pecorino cheese
2 Tbsp. slivered almonds
kosher salt
black pepper


1. Prepare Ingredients: Preheat oven to 425 degrees F. Rinse chicken and pat dry with paper towel. Cut crosswise into 1-inch strips. Rinse kale and tear leaves into bite-size pieces, discarding stems. Rinse scallions, trip and discard roots, and thinly slice. Zest lemon, then halve. In a small bowl, combine Dijon mustard and honey. Taste and add salt and pepper as needed. 

2. Crust Chicken: In a shallow bowl, whisk together 2 egg whites with salt and pepper. In a separate large shallow bowl, combine almond meal, spice mixture, and grated pecorino. Dip chicken into egg whites, turning to coat, then remove, allowing excess to drip off. Transfer to almond meal mixture, turning to coat and pressing to adhere. Shake off any excess. 

3. Bake Chicken: On a foil-lined baking sheet, arrange chicken in a single layer. Bake until crust is golden and chicken is cooked through and no longer pink, about 14 minutes, flipping 1/2 way through. 

4. Cook Quinoa: While chicken bakes, bring 1 cup of water to a boil in a medium pot over high heat. When water is boiling, add quinoa and a pinch of salt. Cover, reduce heat to medium high, and cook until tender, about 8 minutes. 

5. Cook Kale: Add kale to pot with quinoa, cover, and continue cooking until kale is bright green, 1-2 minutes. Remove pot from heat and stir in scallion, lemon zest, juice of 1/2 lemon, slivered almonds, and olive oil. Taste and add salt and pepper as needed. Discard remaining lemon. 

6. Plate Chicken: Divide kale quinoa pilaf and chicken fingers evenly between 2 plates. Serve with honey mustard alongside for dipping.

21 Day Fix - How Trader Joe's Lunch Salads Measure Up

I have been wanting to try a new Beachbody program for a while now, and after seeing the amazing results my challengers were having -- check out Carla and Maria (coming soon!) -- I decided to take the plunge and try the 21 Day Fix.

Like most busy moms, I try to cram 26 hours of "stuff" into a 24 hour day. I don't have a ton of time to spend on meal prep so I cut corners wherever I can. One of my favorite places to shop for easy ready-made meals is Trader Joe's and I especially love their lunch salads. They're always tasty, filling and seasonally appropriate. As I was preparing to start the Fix, I wanted to have my game plan in place so I dissected a few of my favorite Trader Joe's salads for the container break-down. I love that I can easily incorporate these into my 21 Day Fix eating plan when I don't have time to prepare lunch at home!

Here's the breakdown for a few of my favorites, so now all you have to do is grab & go!

*I am personally not a fan of salad dressings, so I exclude them from my meals, but if you wanted to eat the dressings provided with the salads, I recommend measuring out one orange container worth and no more!

21 Day Fix - Real People, Real Results

It's has been a while since I've posted here. Things have really been taking off with my business and I've been giving my challengers and my team 110% of my time. But that's no excuse! I promise to try and be better :)

Today, I'm so excited to introduce Carla -- a real person who got some real results using 21 Day Fix! Carla has a great experience with the program and her results were fantastic! Read on to learn more about Carla's experience and see her progress ...

Before starting 21 Day Fix, I was fed up with the way I looked and unhappy with myself for allowing myself to just let go and not care about my appearance. I felt fat, my clothes were tight, and I was buying a bigger size just so I could feel more comfortable. 

I decided to work with Cheyenne because I felt like she understood my needs just from me telling her a little bit about my past fitness likes and dislikes. I was actually against drinking any type of "shakes" but when she explained Shakeology and its ingredients to me, I was sold. I selected 21 Day Fix because it focuses on portion control and that's what I needed. Plus, the workouts were only 30 minutes and I could do them right at home. Just like many women, I am a full-time mom, wife and worker. I needed a combination that would work with my lifestyle and not take time away from my daughter while getting me back to where I know I could be.

At first, I struggled because I hated or had never tried some of the foods suggested in the program. I also struggled with what carbs I could eat. But immediately, Cheyenne and the rest of the challenge group supported me and suggested things I could try to make sure I was eating all of my containers. 

I really looked forward to my workouts, and even on the days I was exhausted or stressed out, I would do my 21 Day Fix workout and feel so much better. I love how the trainer, Autumn Calabrese, explains every detail about how my form should be, and her words, "I want you to give me everything you got and then just a little bit more" really pushed me every time to work that much harder. I was also able to relate to the other women in the group who were sharing similar emotions and feelings as I felt. I was able to open up to strangers and trust that I wasn't being judged... I was being encouraged. My home support team is pretty awesome as well, so that helped! This is the best decision I have ever made for myself! 

I have a while to go before my personal goals have been achieved, but MY GOODNESS! I lost 8 pounds and inches just in my first round! My clothes felt loose and I felt comfortable again. I went on to do a second round and so far I've lost a total of 14 pounds and I'm one size down in my clothes! I'm so darn proud of myself and I feel healthy. When I first started, I just wasn't happy. To hear people now telling me how good I look and noticing my results is the best feeling!

I would recommend the 21 Day Fix to anyone who is serious about losing weight and getting healthy, and 1000% for Cheyenne to be their coach. I feel like I've known her for years, and I like that she's human and cares about my progress and had faith that I could really do this.

Take the Spice It Up (Healthier Adobo & Sazón) Challenge

Last night, I wanted to prepare my husband a special meal for being so wonderful. He requested the classic Spanish dish arroz con pollo (chicken and rice). As I was making it, I hesitantly reached for two of the spice blends in our pantry, Adobo and Sazón.

What are Adobo and Sazón?

If you come from a hispanic family, chances are just about every home cooked meal you've ever had probably contained Adobo, Sazón or a little bit of both. They are probably two of the most amazingly flavorful seasoning mixes found in Latin food. However, I almost never cook with them them anymore because of the negative health effects they can have.

So What's the Problem?

Ever wonder why you want one huge heaping plate after another of that arroz con gandules? It's because those little packets of Sazón are mostly MSG (monosodium glutamate - a highly concentrated sodium additive produced by the fermentation of starch, sugar beets, sugar cane or molasses) and artificial dyes. MSG tricks the body into thinking it's not yet full, so you keep eating until you've stuffed yourself into a food coma. Over time, MSG also numbs the tastebuds making naturally prepared foods taste too bland without the MSG, creating a cycle of poor eating habits. And while --  thankfully -- Adobo doesn't contain MSG, it is still filled with sodium. Just 1/4 teaspoon of Adobo has 350 mg of Sodium. And you KNOW as well I do, you're not just using 1/4 tsp of Adobo in your recipes!! (The recommended daily maximum sodium intake is 1,500 mg which is roughly 1 teaspoon of Adobo.)

Oh. Think this doesn't apply to you because you buy the "healthier" Natural y Completo Sazón or the Adobo Light? Better think again...

The number one ingredient in Goya's Natural y completo Sazón is still Monosodium Glutamate (MSG) and it still contains artificial dyes (FD&C Yellow 5 and Red 40) and Tricalcium Phosphate (an anti-caking agent). On what planet can we call that "natural?" And Adobo Light still has 680 mg of Sodium per teaspoon... not good.

While the FDA classifies MSG as "generally safe," potential side effects of MSG include: headache, flushing, sweating, numbness, tingling or burning in the face, neck and other areas, heart palpitations, chest pain, nausea, and drowsiness. High sodium diets also put you at risk for high blood pressure, stroke, heart failure, osteoporosis, stomach cancer, kidney disease, headaches and water retention (leading to puffiness, bloating and weight gain). We all know that high blood pressure and obesity are epidemics in the hispanic community.

The "Spice it Up" Challenge 

So I am challenging you to make one small step toward better health over the next thirty days. Will you to replace your store bought Adobo and Sazón with a healthier homemade version? I'm willing to bet that even this minor change will translate into huge improvements in your health.

I did some research and collected a few healthier recipe alternatives, but I'm sure there are others out there if you scour the internet. You can make a big batch now that will last you all month - just as convenient as Goya, buy you can use it guilt-free because you will know exactly what you are consuming -- 100% natural ingredients. Here are some of the most promising recipes I found, although for each of these I would replace any kosher salt with a little bit less sea salt or pink himalayan salt. I'd love to know which ones you're using and what difference you notice after 30 days!

Fashionable Fitness - Fabletics Review

I am one of those people who cares what I look like when I'm working out. Even though I usually workout at home... alone... in my basement... having a cute outfit on somehow makes me feel more capable. It's like putting on a power suit for a big job interview - when you're dressed for the role you want, you have a much better chance of getting it!

That said, I am THE WORST when it comes to putting outfits together. I'll have an idea of what I want in my head, but then when I walk into a sporting goods store like Sports Authority or Dick's I feel like a deer caught in headlights. There are so many options, not to mention -- workout clothes can be super expensive!


I usually don't like to order clothes online without being able to try them on first -- especially from a new company I've never seen in person. But when a fellow Beachbody coach recommended the site to me, I decided to give it a try.

I wasn't too sure on the sizing. I normally wear a size 2, but Fabletics has size 2 listed as XXS which seemed like it would be really tiny so I went with the Size 4/XS. I love that the site offers free exchanges, so I didn't have to stress about it too much. It it didn't fit I could easily switch it for the right size.

I was super excited to receive my first delivery in the mail. For those who are interested in the type of packaging, nothing fancy here like some other monthly clothing sites, just plastic bags. Not a big deal for me though. What really matters is what's inside!

I was delighted to find that the clothes fit well and were a great quality. The pants are a thicker fabric than I am used to but they smooth everything out and hide any trace of cellulite. Nothing will be jiggling in these bad boys! They also have a small pocket sewn into the waist band that will fit your money, ID, a key, etc...

I was really surprised by how soft and comfortable the clothes are too - they feel like you're wearing pajamas and even though the clothes are fitted, they have plenty of give for the PiYo workouts I am currently doing.

Overall, I was impressed with Fabletics and I'm really looking forward to seeing my next set of outfit recommendations on the 1st! Even at the full price of $50 per outfit, you really can't go wrong!

PiYo - A Beginner's Week 1 Review & Meal Plan

I've always loved yoga, but never really felt like I was getting a good workout with it. That's why I was so excited when I found out about PiYo. I knew that I could trust Beachbody and Chalene Johnson to deliver hard-core results, even with a low impact workout -- and I wasn't wrong!!

I started week one right after the 4th of July holiday. After our midwest vacation getaway where I'd skipped my workouts and eaten more than my share of hot dogs and hamburgers, I had put on an extra 5 pounds and I was ready to get back into a healthy routine.

Week 1 Review 

Day 1 - Align: The Fundamentals
Day 1 walks you through all of the moves you'll need to know for the program and teaches proper form. Do not skip this! To see results with PiYo, you want to make sure you're doing the moves correctly so I recommend doing this in front of a mirror so you can self-correct. (Tip: If you don't have a mirror in your workout area, you prop up your iPhone up on the floor and reversed the camera so you can see yourself!)

Day 2 - Define: Lower Body
Define: Lower Body is a great first workout to ease into PiYo. It's only 20 minutes, but don't be fooled by the short length... it's still a great workout. I was surprised to find tricep push-ups, chaturangas, and down dogs in a lower body workout, and I definitely felt this one in my abs arms and shoulders too. My lower hips and hamstrings felt nice and stretched out too after all those lunges, warriors and pigeon poses. Because it was so short, I personally felt like I was just getting warmed up at the end of day 2, so I went ahead and did day 3 too.

Day 3 - Define: Upper Body
Define: Upper body is where it really started to burn for me. Between Lower Body and Upper Body there is a lot of wrist/shoulder action (plank, down-dog, push-ups, etc.) and Chalene really turned it up here with some unique low-impact cardio movements like the PiYo Push-up series (roll spine down, walk your hands out in three counts to plank position, do three tricep push-ups, and walk hands back in to standing position), PiYo Pike (from side plank position, tuck your raised arm under your body, twisting your body forward), and Beast (from table top pose, lift your knees so you're on your hands and toes, kick one leg forward and raise the opposite arm).

Day 4 - Sweat
Ladies and gentlemen, the name doesn't lie! I normally don't sweat very much when I work out, but I was literally dripping my the end of Sweat. The rapid succession of movement elevates your heart rate without the high-impact cardio. It's the perfect fat-burning workout for anyone who can't (or just doesn't like to) do a lot of jumping around. I will warn you though, there is a surprise burpee sequence toward the end of the workout, but all in all the workout including warm-up is only 37 minutes so it's not too overwhelming.

Day 5 - Rest
Woohoo! I was surprised to have a rest day during the week, but by day 5 my core and upper body were feeling pretty sore, so it was definitely welcomed.

Days 6 & 7 - Define: Lower Body & Upper Body
To finish out the week you will repeat Define: Lower Body and Define: Upper Body. You should find both to be slightly easier the second time around. Again, I did both on the same day to give myself an extra rest day.

Overall, I loved week one of PiYo for a number of reasons:

  • PiYo gets my heart pumping without a bunch of jumping around
  • Every move has a modification, so the workout is perfect for all fitness/flexibility levels
  • You don't need any equipment (except a yoga mat -- which, really, is optional) 
  • You don't need a ton of space, just an area big enough to lunge forward, back and side to side

My Story: Why I Became a Beachbody Coach

I'll be honest - I've never been comfortable in front of the camera. BUT I felt in my heart that I needed to share with you why I chose to become a Beachbody coach and speaking to you directly from my heart seemed like the only acceptable way to do it.

For so many years I was depressed, anxious and completely unhappy (you can read more about my story here and here). The medications I was prescribed caused me to put on so much weight and over time I went from feeling pretty and confident to insecure and self-conscious. I put on a happy face for everyone, but I hated who I had become and my marriage was suffering big time. My doctors told me that exercise would help -- but I was at a point where my husband literally had to take me for walks around our neighborhood (like our dog!) just to get me out of the house. I felt like I had hit rock bottom.

Before getting pregnant, I managed to gradually wean myself off of the medications (under my doctor's supervision) -- but the weight I gained (and the health problems I'd developed as a result) seemed like they were here to stay. But it wasn't until I had complications during my pregnancy that I realized just how important my health was -- both physically and emotionally. And once my daughter was born, I knew I was ready to commit 100% to getting myself healthy. My doctor only sealed the deal when she told me that I'd need to lose weight before getting pregnant again. This was serious.

So I started out with a beginner exercise program (Hip Hop Abs) and added Shakeology to my daily diet, and I immediately started to see and feel the results. I was actually motivated. My mood improved. My outlook on life improved. My confidence returned. I have ENERGY again! I was actually excited about something!! And as I healed, my marriage started to heal. Shortly after completing my first Beachbody program I knew that I needed to share my experience with as many people as I could -- because if I can do it, anyone can do it. I literally turned my life around with Beachbody and the chance to pay it forward as a coach (and actually get paid to help others enjoy the same success) is just icing on the cake.

PiYo - Newest Beachbody Workout

First of all, I want to give everyone a big THANK YOU for being patient while my family transitioned from New York to Minnesota! It was really nice to step away for a couple of months while I get things in order. We just returned from an amazing vacation in Mexico, and now I'm ready to get back to work!! 

I will be flying to Las Vegas today for Beachbody's biggest annual event, Coach Summit! Be back soon!!

If you follow my Facebook page, you know my family is gearing up for a big move from New York to Minneapolis. Well, it's getting close to moving day!! I'm so excited to start the next chapter of our lives, so for the next two weeks or so I'll be stepping away from my FB page and blog to focus on getting us packed, moved and settled in our new home.

I'll be responding to messages as quickly as I can, but if you don't hear back immediately it's probably because I'm dealing with some move-related crisis (or I'm not getting a good WiFi signal from our hotel room) but I promise you'll hear back from me soon!

5 Songs Sure to Lift Your Mood

Shaun T recently posted on his FB page that fitness is only the tip of the iceberg, and I couldn't agree with that more. Through fitness I have challenged myself and surprised myself. I have learned to believe in myself, and more importantly, to love myself  (all of me -- not just the best parts) which has allowed me to love those around me with an open heart. I am confident. I am grateful. I am truly happy. Every. Single. Day. That is HUGE coming from me.

There was a time that I felt like I was stuck. I didn't feel like I had control of my life and I was unhappy and clinically depressed. I isolated myself from friends and family and spent my time wallowing in my sadness and anger. I allowed that emotion to take over my life and become my identity - my only defining characteristic. And not only did I spend all my time thinking about how miserable I was, I literally had a soundtrack to go along with it. My iPod was filled with sad and depressing songs sure to keep me in the funk I was in.

It's been a long road to recovery, but through it I have learned the importance of maintaining a positive environment. You need to surrounding yourself with uplifting people who will challenge ou and inspire you to be your best. You need to feed your body with healthy food. And yes, you even need to listen to music that puts you in the right state of mind to live the life you want.

5 Must-Have Beauty Products for Every Fit Girl

First off, let me apologize for not blogging last week. To say that I have A LOT on my plate right now with our upcoming move to Minneapolis would be a total understatement! But I promise I haven't forgotten about you!

In fact, I was just talking to one of my T25 clients the other day. She admitted that she's been having a hard time keeping up with her workouts, even though they're only 25 minutes a day. When I asked what her biggest challenge is (thinking she'd say the workouts were too tough) she surprised me with  "vanity!" She's a busy working momma with little time to spare (which is one of the reasons T25 appealed to her so much) so she has been skipping her workouts because she doesn't feel like she can do her workout AND still get herself looking office-ready in the morning.

I can totally relate to this -- As you can see, I pretty much live in a ponytail or messy bun because it's just SO MUCH EASIER than fixing my hair everyday after my workouts. Then again, as a Beachbody coach I work from home and have the luxury of choosing not to beautify myself - lol. But her struggle got me thinking about the beauty products I just can't live without as a fit girl.

1. {Batiste Dry Shampoo} Batiste dry shampoo has been one of my beauty product staples for years!  I have very dry hair, so to avoid further stripping it of any essential oils, I only wash it 2-3 times a week. I've tried other dry shampoo brands, but I no other drug-store brand compares to the refreshing power of Batiste - I especially love the blush fragrance - and it works just as well as the luxury brands. I always spray it on after my workouts to absorb any moisture and restore a bit of volume after my hair's been tied back. You can also be extra vigilant and spray some on pre-workout to absorb the sweat.

2. {Quality Hair Ties} Pulling your hair back everyday to workout can be hard on your locks. If you tie it too tight, you can cause breakage (not to mention that awful dreaded pony-tail crease!), but securing it too loosely will have you stopping every five minutes during your workout to fix it - especially if you have long, thick hair like I do. I've found that the hair ties actually make a difference. Forget about those $3 Goody elastics and invest in some quality hair ties that will keep your strands in place while causing minimal damage. There are plenty of options out there, I especially like these and these.

3. {Clarisonic Mia2 Sonic Skin Cleansing System} The Clarisonic Mia2 is a favorite of mine for keeping my skin clean and blemish-free. Obviously, all that sweat after a workout can lead to breakouts so I like to make sure I get in a good scrub with this while I'm in the shower. Between this and drinking Shakeology, I don't think I've had a single zit in the past year! If you are especially prone to breakouts, doing a quick scrub BEFORE you workout might help, as exercising with clogged pores can also lead to skin problems.

4. {Aveeno Active Naturals Ultra Calming Daily Moisturizer} I use Aveeno's Ultra Calming Moisturizer every. single. day. I bought it in a pinch when my department store brand moisturizer ran out, and I loved it so much I stuck with it. Not only is it is super moisturizing, but it reduces redness and blotchiness so it's perfect for calming your skin after an intense workout.

5. {Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash} Sweat can also cause breakouts on the body, especially if you wear fitted workout gear or a sports bra when exercising. I believe Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash is actually a face wash, but I use it on my body post-workout and it works great! The exfoliating beads are just the right amount of scrubby and the fresh grapefruit scent is so invigorating.

And just for the record, I do fix myself up once in a while!!

Real People, Real Results: Jennifer T.

"Shakeology is now the first thing I have when I wake up every morning!"

Cheyenne and I met about 8 years ago, when our husbands were both active duty Army and stationed at Ft. Lewis. We met through a mutual friend and quickly went from being acquaintances to lifelong friends.

Since having a baby almost 6 years ago, I have not been able to shake the baby weight plus some extra pounds that I've gained. When Cheyenne started posting information about Shakeology on Facebook, I ignored it at first. I had made serious attempts to lose weight multiple times over the past six years with varying levels of success, and each time the weight came back! But eventually, I decided to ask Cheyenne about her 12-Day Shakeology Challenge group. I knew that she wouldn't lie to me and when she told me about the program and the results her clients were having, I decided I had to give it a shot.

When I started the challenge, I was realistic with my goal. I was hoping to lose anywhere between 7-10 pounds ... and I did! The shakes were tasty and filling, and so easy to make in the morning and drink in the car on my way to work or school. The meal plan Cheyenne provided included “real meals” that were delicious and didn’t make me feel like I was cutting out major food groups, like dairy! Also, I liked having Cheyenne available to ask questions when needed. She provided a lot of motivation and support, too! The hardest part was the planning. I had to make sure that I grocery shopped ahead, etc., which can be difficult with my busy schedule.

Since I started drinking Shakeology, I have lost a total of 13 pounds. I also have more energy and do not find myself relying on unhealthy energy boosts, like soda. Shakeology is now the first thing I have when I wake up every morning! 

Cheyenne keeps motivating me and encouraging me not to give up. And, I am comfortable sharing my actual weight with her and that is huge!
